A Prayer for Salvation

If you are reading this, it is because you have made the most important decision in your life, and are ready to receive the free gift of salvation through Jesus.  We emphasize that this is a free gift to be received by faith. It is not earned or achieved through our own personal works and efforts. God made it easy to receive.  He took care of the hard part, all we have to do is believe and receive.

The Bible tells us exactly how to be born again.  Romans 10:9-10 says, “that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.”

It is all about believing in the heart and confessing with your mouth.  You do not have to say all the right words perfectly. God understands the language of faith that comes from our heart.  It really doesn’t say anything about praying per se, but we are going to use the following prayer as a platform to release our faith for salvation.  This is simply a point of contact that you can use as a reference to point to a specific time where you made your choice, sealed your commitment of trust in the Lord and released your faith to receive the free gift of salvation in your own personal life.

Simply use the prayer below as a suggested guideline, or pray your own prayer right out of your heart.

“Dear God, I come to You in the Name of Jesus, and on the Authority of Your Word.   You said when one comes to You, You will by no means cast out or reject. You also said that You are rich to all who call upon Your Name.  Thank You for your unconditional love for me as demonstrated by giving me Your own Son to die in my place. Thank you for Your abundant grace towards me – that is greater than my sin.  I repent of my sin. I turn my back on trusting in myself and my own goodness for salvation. I trust in You completely with all of my heart for salvation and all that it brings. I believe in the finished work of Jesus.  I believe that He became my substitute and stood in for me. He was crucified for me on the cross. He took all of my sin, condemnation, guilt and shame, the curse, as He was lifted up on the cross. He died for me and was buried.  I believe on the third day, He was justified in the Spirit; He was made alive in the Spirit; and that You raised Him up from the dead. I confess Jesus as Lord of my life. From now on, I identify with Him by faith. Everything He did for me has been put to my account just like I did it.  I was crucified with Him. I was justified in spirit with Him. I was made alive in spirit with Him. I was raised up together with Him. I am now born again. You have made me a new creation in Christ, old things have passed away, and all things have become new in me. I am born of You. You are my Heavenly Father.   I am Your child. I am now in the Family of God. Thank You, Father. I receive everything that You have for me in Christ.

Congratulations and welcome to the Family of God.  You are now a child of God and have become a member of the household of faith.  God has done a supernatural work inside of you – in your spirit. You are a brand new creation in Jesus.  The old person you used to be doesn’t exist anymore. You may look the same outwardly – as far as your body is concerned.  However, inside of you – in your spirit – everything has been made new. The old person you used to be doesn’t exist anymore.  That person was crucified with Christ and buried. The new “you” has been resurrected with Jesus.
